STEVENAGE HAVEN

As part of our support to the Stevenage Community, Elim Church International has teamed with the staff and residents of Stevenage Haven to provide support through interaction in a comfortable environment.

The residents of Stevenage Haven are not only homeless but people who have led chaotic and complex lives, as such, providing accommodation is a small platform they require.

It was agreed that possibly the best way to encourage residents to initially engage with volunteers from the church would be a monthly interaction over lunch (home cooked meals) at the hostel. This has been going over the last year and has certainly proved to be a very popular event-beautiful food cooked by dedicated volunteers of Elim Church

The hard work is helping them address their support needs, build confidence and make progress in a planned way.

Pastor Kojo Wood and the volunteers of Elim church have recognised that our residents need time to trust others and we are grateful for their endurance, hard work and patience.  We are now in the second stage of the journey. Pastor Kojo Wood has met with some residents to encourage them to achieve their goals in life which will allow them to be valued members of the community.

We hope that this be seen positively by other residents who will then be able to come forward themselves.
